Three aspects of the wine industry cross paths - the future of wine is here
Paper Maps

At its core, WineMap is a unique online community where vineyard winery and tasting room owners register information about their organizations. We then use this data to create beautiful paper maps that are sold in wineries, catalogues, and online through The Map Store. Because the information is controlled entirely by the owners who have 24 / 7 access to their accounts, we can periodically put out revisions to the paper map series, thus allowing owners to change information about their organization or register new vineyards, wineries, and tasting rooms that will be included in future revisions.
This unique community-driven approach guarantees that our wine maps are as accurate and up-to-date as possible. WineMap was developed as an alternative to traditional, expensive mapping contracts that are essentially outdated the second the maps go to print. Our wine maps are always current, and the information is controlled entirely by you.
Online Accounts

But that’s not all your account does. These same accounts are incorporated into a revolutionary, interactive online wine map. Accounts are compiled into aesthetically pleasing webpages that:
- Lets visitors learn more about what makes your grapes or wine so unique; allows you to showcase your wines, provide hours of operation, contact information, tasting prices, etc. and acts as a gateway to your own website.
- Allows you to login to a secure “back-end” section where you manage your account information in real time, and view statistics about your site (how many visitors, new comments from enthusiasts, etc.). So when you make changes they are reflected on the online map and will appear on future revisions of the paper maps!
Interactive Online Map

Oh yes, and we’re just getting started. Now imagine all that integrated with an online map that puts the power of GIS (geographic information systems) technology at your fingertips.
As a vineyard owner, you’ll have free access to massive datasets about your property that can be overlaid on our online map. We’re talking parcel lines, slope data, soil samples, average rainfall, temperature-you name it, we’re giving you access to it-for free. Find ideal locations in your area for new vineyards, or scout out spots in the remote corners of your property for those special blocks of grapes that you’ve been itching to plant.
As a wine tourist, you’ll have access to a powerful, fun, and engagingly unique online community devoted to wine. Use WineMap to find the wineries and tasting rooms you want to visit. Stumble upon them perusing the actual online map or search for them with our traditional directory. Each listing has contact info, hours of operation, feedback from other visitors, links, articles, and wine profiles- everything you need to plan your tasting trip. The map also includes hotels, restaurants, and upcoming wine events.
The Future of Wine
If anything can be said about WineMap.org it’s that we pride ourselves on thinking outside of the box. Tradition is an obstacle, the status quo taboo. What started as an idea for creating great wine maps became a commitment to innovating access to information. We’ve got some pretty unorthodox ideas for WineMap.org; stick around and take part in the revolution.
